Award-winning house builder, Peter Ward Homes, has submitted plans to build a batch of first-time buyer houses, along with a children’s play area, adjacent to their popular Auchinleck Close development at Kirkburn, Driffield.

An application for planning permission has been submitted to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council and, if approved, the company plans to start work almost immediately.

The Beverley-based company’s latest application is for five homes, each with private parking, and an adjacent equipped play area. The scheme will consist of three two-bedroom terrace homes and two three-bedroom semi-detached homes, and is in line with national planning policy to increase the availability of affordable homes.

The company’s managing director, Peter Ward, said: “Our plan is to build five new homes on the site of an old play area abandoned a number of years ago and which has since become derelict and an eyesore for local residents.

“The new play area will be equipped with swings, a see-saw and a toddler unit which has proved very popular with children and their parents at some of the other Peter Ward Homes schemes throughout the East Riding.”

He added: “Prices for these new homes are likely to start at a little over £100,000 (the final price is yet to be confirmed) and we hope this will enable first-time buyers to purchase a new property in their area.”

Peter Ward Homes, which next year celebrates its 30th anniversary, is the only house builder in the area to win the coveted House Builder of the Year Gold Award.
