House-hunters have been heading for the seaside during the past couple of weeks to be among the first to look round the Peter Ward Homes development of the former Hornsea Pottery site.

For the first time, visitors to Rawsons Green, off Marlborough Avenue, have been able to view the new show house and meet staff in the recently-opened sales office.

Visitor numbers over the August Bank Holiday weekend were especially encouraging, according to customer service representative Christine Cowlam. She said: “For a Bank Holiday weekend when there’s so much else for people to do, the number of people coming to Rawsons Green was very promising.

“Visitors were impressed by the show house and, as we predicted, demand for homes on this development is going to be high.”

When completed the 50-home development will feature a mixture of four and three bedroom detached houses, semis, and two bedroom terrace homes.

Christine added: “It’s clear that people have been waiting for some time for work to start on this important site. It’s a very quiet location yet not far from the town centre and we have a good mixture of properties to suit just about every buyer’s needs.”

The first six new homes are taking shape and will be ready for completion by Christmas. Prices at Rawsons Green range from £147,500 to £232,500.

There is further evidence that Peter Ward Homes is bucking the trend for house builders in the number of sales and enquiries at the Captains Close development at Goole, where around half of the 84 properties are nearing completion with 20 already sold.

Peter Ward said: “We’ve always concentrated on building quality homes and providing value for money. We recognised that this is not the easiest time to purchase a new house so we have put together a variety of options that we believe can assist home-buyers.”
